A homeowner in Milltown, New Jersey noticed their concrete sidewalk was sinking and becoming unlevel. This happens because the soil is often poorly compacted and loose. Over time, this loose soil settles and creates voids underneath the concrete. This can be a danger because other residents could trip and hurt themselves.
The homeowner called Quality 1st Basement Systems and our System Design Specialist, Jeff Pitek was able to provide an inspection and help the homeowners find a plan to fix this issue. Upon his inspection of the site, Jeff noticed how unlevel the concrete was. He suggested they use polyurethane foam to lift and level the concrete.
Our foreman, Sean Johnson, used the PolyLevel Injection System to be injected underneath the slab. This process is done by drilling tiny holes into the concrete and injecting the polyurethane foam into the voids. The polyurethane foam has expanding properties that allow for accurate lifting and leveling of the slab. PolyLevel is a lightweight, waterproof, and environmentally friendly solution that will not add weight to the existing soil, and will not wash out.
When the job was complete, the homeowner was pleased with the outcome and the professionalism they saw on the job. They were able to safely walk on the sidewalk and did not have to worry about other residents tripping over the concrete as well.
